THE TYPES

Single-glazed windows These windows are the least expensive type available. However, because they have only one pane of glass, there’s no space to add insulating gas. Consequently, this option doesn’t provide the insulation needed to withstand Canada’s cold winters. You’ll generally find single-glazed windows on old homes that haven’t had their windows upgraded yet.
Double-glazed windows Considered the standard for new homes and replacement windows, double-glazed windows offer better insulation and noise reduction than older, single-paned models. They also provide more security, as two panes are harder to break than just one.
Triple-glazed windows Considered top of the line when it comes to new and replacement windows, triple-glazed windows offer even more insulation, noise reduction and security than double-glazed windows.
